All Things Kids

It only seems appropriate to start a “kid” post with a kid story.

A month or so ago our local youth program had a fundraiser that involved getting “flocked” in your yard by large plastic flamingos. Our neighbor a few houses down got flocked one evening and therefore had multiple pink flamingos stuck all over their yard the following day...
It was brought to our attention, by another neighbor, that our son was driving his battery operated jeep through their yard and purposely nailing each bird...sparing none, and also flattening all of this home owners duck decoys that just happened to also be out in his yard...

When our neighbor knocked on the door to inform us of our sons disrespectful behavior, we had just put Wesley in the bath to start his bedtime routine. In somewhat of a hurry to make things right and teach our son a lesson, Tim went in and grabbed him out of the bath, dried him off quickly and grabbed whatever shorts of Wesley's that were laying around.
He then proceeded to walk our half naked son down to the neighbors house to have him apologize for destroying his personal property.
Luckily for Wesley, this specific neighbor happens to be awesome with kids and not prone to getting worked up about situations like this. So, when they arrived to say sorry, Tim encouraged this neighbor to be slightly harsher on Wesley so he would understand that this behavior was not acceptable.
To which our neighbor replied, “Well, I don’t want to make the kid cry!”

As they were leaving, Tim probed Wesley to apologize, and told him specifically to say he was sorry for destroying his yard and decoys.

Practically scripting the apology for him, Tim waited for Wesley to look the neighbor in the eye and repeat the apology.

Instead, to everyone’s surprise, Wesley gave the neighbor a slight smirk, looked up at him and whispered, “I’m not wearing any underwear.....!”
 😂😂😂

Needless to say, not much of a lesson was learned in the actual apology, due to lack of being able to control the laughter. But, we had a good talking to with Wesley at home, and then proceeded to tell the story to all our family members because, as the saying goes, kids really do “say the darndest things!”
